SOME DOG AND CAT TRIVIA....

Did you know..

  • That there are plenty of websites available offering naming suggestions for your pet. We've seen one that offers over 6,000 names!

  • Whiskers are very sensitive, even to small changes in air currents. A cat has four rows on each side of its face. The upper two rows can move independently of the bottom two rows.

  • It was recently discovered that dogs DO see in color, just not as vivid as the color that humans see.

  • The oldest known fossilized record that has a similarity to today's cats has been aged as 12 million years old

  • Dogs have nearly 220 million smell-sensitive cells over an area about the size of a tissue (compared to 5 million over an area the size of a postage stamp for humans).

  • A group of cats is called a clowder, a group of kittens is called a kendle.

  • Dogs sweat only from the bottoms of their feet. The only way they can discharge heat is by panting.
